Moving from GRUB to LILO.

I've removed Red Hat (which was using GRUB) and installed Slackware. During the installation I chose (the suggested) LILO as the boot loader. After the install was complete, I removed all CDs and floppies, and rebooted the machine. When the machine boots up I am given a "grub>" prompt.

How do I remove GRUB and switch over to LILO?

Thanks.

P.S. I did some searching and found a few results, but they were geared towards Linux->Windows instead of Linux->Linux, and involved a Windows boot disk.

Point you browser at www.google.com/linux, and search for "configuring lilo" or "setup lilo". You will find a lot of info.

Task B3 of the last link in my siganture refers.

It is "very common" for the Slackware installer to fail to deliver Lilo.

Apart from the Task B3 and specific to Slackware you can also

(1) Use Slackware installation CD and navigate the installer to install Lilo again.

(2) You can use Slackware installation CD and boot to it kernel terminal mode and use it as a Live CD to carry out Lilo restoration as described in Task B3. After you change root into the unbootable Slackware and instead of "lilo -b" command you can also run "liloconfig" at terminal mode to reconfigure Lilo.

saikee: Spectacular; thank you! I am now booting into Slackware :D (And I don't have nroff for some reason...)

Update: I re-torrented, md5'd, burned, and installed according to the excellent source of information @ http://iso.linuxquestions.org. This time there were no errors during the install; although, I still had to take care of LILO manually.

Thanks again :)
