mouse pointers stick to edges of frames and URLs in KDE

Hey everyone,
I am having this strange problem with my mouse pointers. Basically, normally, they work fine and there are no problems. But after the screensaver comes on in KDE and it locks the screen or the scree goes into standby mode, once I unlock it, the mouse pointers start sticking to the edge of frames and to URL's. I'll try to explain. Basically, the mouse acts and looks normal, but when i get to the edge of a open window, the mouse cursor turns into the stretch pointer to change the size of the screen as usual, but when i move my mouse away from the edge of the frame, the stretch cursor stays there while my normal cursor goes around and does what it does. Then, if i get to another edge or hover over a URL, the cursor sticks to that spot and moves from the old stop (in the case of the URL, i changes into that finger pointer). Functionality wise, I don't lose anything, and everything works as it should, but its just annoying because at all times on the screen there is this extra mouse pointer just stuck in a certain spot. This happens for the edges of frames and URLs. I hope I am describing this well enough, as it is tough to describe without seeing.

This occurs right after the screensaver turns on AND the screen is locked, OR the computer monitor goes into standby mode with just a blank black screen and I come back. In all other cases that I am aware of, after I come back from screensaver with no lock and with no standby mode, everything is fine.

Anybody ever experience this problem? Any ideas on how I could fix it?

I am running Fedora Core 5, kernel 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5, KDE version 3.5.3-8.0.fc5.kde. I have a neomagic videocard on an old gateway solo 2500 with 366 mhz cpu and 288mb ram. I have run red hat 9 with no problems and suse 10.1 with no problems (although suse was excrutiatingly slow which is why i changed back to a redhat version of linux). These both did not have problems with the mouse and screensaver/standby like this. I don't know if its a problem with the screensaver software or the monitor software, or neither.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.
