mounting or formating hard disc

Hi,

I have two hard disc on my linux 8.0 box. When I setup , I only format the first hard disc with all the partition .

Now I wish to setup one partition on the other hard disc to have only one partition ( /backup ) , how can I do that in command line as I installed the RH 8.0 in text mode only.

Thanks for the help.

first you need to use 'fdisk' or 'cfdisk' to make a partition on the drive. then you can format that partition using 'mke2fs' and then you can mount the drive with 'mount' command.

check the man pages for the options

Hi mantharm,

Thanks for the guide.

I have found the article in RH website :
