Mounting NTFS filesystem

:Pengy: I have not been working with linux too long now... i know the BASICS but not much more. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help explain how to mod my kernel to enable me to mount a NTFS hdd that i have. I keep all of my mp3s on this hard disk and would like to be able to play them in either windows or redhat. If someone could please explain to me STEP BY STEP how to rewrite my kernel and complile it... i have zero experience w/ this kernel crap so bare w/ my n00bness. IF i can somehow get beyond making that thing mount, could someone also please explain how to automount something... i appreciate it, these forums are really great!
