mounting Garmin Navigation device

Thanks for any help....

I have a Garmin streetpilot 2720 GPS. This is the only Garmin product that will not go into what they call 'host' mode. So therefor I cannot navigate inside of the internal memory. Other Garmin's are just like flashdrives.

Although my xp system does recognize the Garmin as a device I am unable to navigate through it.

Will I be able to boot into Kubuntu and navigate through this device? Would this only work if they have linux driver support?

thanks,

LTP

Last time I tried out a Garmin device (trying to copy maps onto it) I couldn't do it on Linux; the device didn't appear, which probably means that it would need special drivers (in other words, that model didn't mount as a regular flash drive). On Windows it did work, though, but only after I "installed" the device there.

I'd ask Garmin's customer support if I were you; they'll at least know if it's officially known to work under Linux or not.

I tried to view the manual but the download failed. The specifications show this unit does not have memory card slot, play MP3/audio books or a picture viewer. So I suspect that it may not be capable of being a mass storage memory device.
