Mounting a new drive

Space on my /var partition is getting VERY low. Rather than repartioning the whole disk and possibly destroying data, would it be possible to buy another hard drive, install, and move the /var partition to that location?

I would see no problems with that at all.. You could however back up most of the files on /var cause if its getting low, its probably just your log files starting to get big.. have you taken a look and maybe cleaned them out, or are you running a mail server and its using that directory as the mail users directory where mail is stored... ??

The logs used to be there, but I already had to move them.

Sendmail still stores all it's stuff in there.

I think I'll just buy a 20 gig harddrive, and let it be. The annoying thing is that this was a Red hat 7.2 server install and I followed the recommended partition sizes for my exisiting 20 gig drive. Little did I know Redhat would be completely wrong. Oh well, I'll know better next time.
