Mount/umount causing kernel panics?
I am running Red Hat 7.3 and 8.0 with the latest updates on a variety of Dell and Compaq (HP) desktops. I wrote a shell script to go through and mount, dir list, and umount a directory full of ISO files. After 30 to 50 ISOs the kernel panics and puts out the error "Attempted to kill init!". All the ISO files are good, I've verified each individually. Anyone have any idea why this would cause a panic?

Could be a memory leak in the kernel?

I did some more investigating and found this only occurs when running as non-root, as root the system runs fine.
