mount points agida /knoppix/debian


ready to give up ( modre than 2 weeks on this!!)
i have to mount my dvd and my cdrom--so far nothing but errors
man pages not helpful

here is //etc/fstab

# /etc/fstab: filesystem table.

what is mount point for dvd--i taught it was mount //dev/dvd /dvd
get
roberta@home:~$ mount /dvd
mount: special device /dev/dvd does not exist

cd /mnt
ls -al
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 14 10:27 dvd


root@home:~#
root@home:~# mount /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd
mount: special device /dev/dvd does not exist
root@home:~# mount /dvd /mnt/dvd
mount: /dvd is not a block device
same errors for cdrom and cdrom1

what the heck am i doing wrong?

Your fstab appears to be configured to mount your dvd drive from the device node called "/dev/dvd". The errors from the mount command indicate that this device node does not in fact exist. To confirm this, please post the output of "ls -l /dev/dvd"

mount point is
