mount one device to two mount points

Is it safe to try to mount one device to two mount points?

I want to be able to copy a set of files in the windows directory structure for AMP, but, of course, keep it in the correct LAMP location for Linux servers (my computer).

What do you mean by "one device"? So long as you are mounting different partitions to different mount points, no problem.

Give specific examples so that it's more clear what you are trying to do.

Is it safe? Have you even tried it?

I just did with my CDROM, no problems, no complains from mount, it should be safe. Try it to find out.

You can mount a device to as many different mount points as you like...

In my mind the "danger" would be in the confusion that might be created.
