Most ergonomic color scheme for GNOME terminal
I always wondered what is the best color scheme for GNOME terminals.
- Mac OSX terminals are white text on black background. - Default GNOME terminal is grey text on white background. - And Ubuntu comes with that... Is there any article anywhere related to this? I am interested to see which color combination is most ergonomic. I find black text on white background the most comfortable scheme to work with. |
Solarized.
Official homepage: http://ethanschoonover.com/solarized Podcast interview with the maintainer: http://thechangelog.com/post/2016875...esktop-with-et My blog entry about how it changed my life: http://duganchen.ca/solarized-color-theme-screenshot/ I also have a friend who's a friend of IR Black, which is another color scheme. I couldn't find a .dir_colors file for it though. |
I prefer green text on a black screen.
In the days of dumb old DEC VT screens you could get white on black, green on black or amber on black. (It depended on the phosphor used in the tube manufacture - Whatja mean "What's a tube!") Most IBM terminals I've used were green on black. I don't think the white background is as easy on the eyes when you have to sit in front of it all day. Just my :twocents: Play Bonny! :hattip: |
It's all a matter of taste. A lot of terminals default to black, but I find that harder on my eyes than white.
In the old days amber monitors were considered classier than the green ones, I seem to remember. I used to have black text on an amber screen. |
Found a pretty reliable page here http://www.searo.who.int/en/Section7...n1106_4272.htm
