Monochrome output when watching DVDs

Hi all,

I managed to get the dvd player working on my PC acceptably well, with one snag: it only plays in black and white. It does this both in Xine and Mplayer.

The Xine faq says this frequently happens after changing your video driver or card: I did have to change the x server driver from the generic "vesa" to "sis" because the playback was jerky (although in colour) with the generic driver. Using the sis driver (my video card is an SiS650) gave me smooth playback, but no colour as I said.

The Xine faq suggests I play with the colour, saturation and brightness controls to fix this, but only the brightness control has a slider for me to manipulate, and this does not cure the problem.

I cannot find a faq for Mplayer.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks in advance!
