Monitorring via pager/sms gateway/mail ?

Hi all,

I'm thinking of monitorring my systems using pager/sms gateway or mail notifications ...

Would like to monitor up or down status of ethernet interfaces and services like apache/sendmail etc...

Can someone give me some advice 'bout this subject ?

There's a software package called nagios, anyone has experience with it ?

thx a lot !!!

I use nagios a fair bit and would hilghly reccomend it. It's fairly easy to set up and has a nive web interface for view your network status, service availability etc.
