Angry Missing mail in Mozilla

I am using mozilla 1.21 with SuSe 8.1 on a Zoom 3048L 56k modem. When retrieving mail sometimes I keep getting the message "RETR command did not succeed unable to open message" and the mail client does not retrieve any new messages after that. So I end up losing mail when this happens. This only happens on some occasions with certain mail and attachments I suspect. Using a Pop account with Earthlink. Have also tried mozilla mail 1.02 same--problem. Any suggestions?

Just use the email client in KDE/Gnome. I only use Mozilla's or Netscape's on Mac.

Ports

The error is there also when using Kmail so I don't think it is a Mozilla
problem per say. After checking my mail via a web mail service and
then using my regular mozilla mail I don't encounter these errors. Could that mean that it is just an initialization string problem? Or some sort of
start up dependency error on the ports. Any ideas?

Try upgrading to Mozilla 1.3 ... www.mozilla.org

I did and the mail worked perfectly.

SuSE 8.1 with a zoom 3048L???

Hello,

It just so happens that I own a laptop running SuSE linux 8.1 Professional, and the internal modem is not compatible. However, I do have a zoom 3048L ... where did you get the drivers for it, or how did you get it to work?

Thanks.

Didn't need any special drivers for it. I believe it is hayes compatible and Suse had the stuff necessary to plug in for it.

It was possible that Suse didn't detect my motherboard and internal stuff correctly. Thats why I kept losing mail. As much as I hate to admit it I went back to Windows 2000 and am now running Mozilla 1.4 under it. Pretty happy with my setup now. Also getting the new Iomega DVD RAM writer. You know the writer that allows for over 100,000 rewrites. Don't know how well Linux supports those drives.

I will probably try Libranet in the future for internet use. Because I'm getting sick of all the security holes and viruses in Windows.
