migration away from qmail

I'm running a mail server with redhat 7.3, and a web mail toster package including qmail, squirrelmail, and Vmailmgr Admin. I've never been realy happy with it becuase apache alwasy crashes for reasons unkown. I simply setup another demon to babysit apache and restart it when it fails. This approach works most of the time but still bothers me.

Now I wan't to migrate this system to Fedora. I'm also hoping to migrate to either postfix or sendmail for my MTA. I want to do this becuase these MTAs come stock with this distrubution. I also want to leverage the new stuff that comes pre-integrated such as mailmain & spamassasin.

I'm also feeling a little locked in by the qmail maildir format. Does anyone know where I can find scripts to migrate back to a sendmail compatible system? (forgive me if this statement is uninformed :) )

I reconize the security advantages of qmail, but my question still stands. Any assistance will be greatly appriciated.

hi

hi, i would suggest converting to Postfix system. I recently bought the book on it, but i coulda done without it because there is so much online documentation.

Not only does postfix support both maildir and mbox formats, but it's secure and easy to configure. (somewhat)

let me know how you make out.
