MIDI sound players

Hello

I have a bunch of MIDI sound files that I want to play. The player I use for sound, Totem, doesn't support MIDI. I also want to move to a more 'dedicated' sound player such as xmms. Except I can't install these without getting into dependency hell (so...many...dependancies). I've lent my Mandrake 10.0 CDs, which almost certainly came with an xmms version to a friend I gave up getting the urpm autodownload/installer as every single package it aquired seemed corrupted.

So I ask: is there a simple midi player that runs by itself (no dependancies)?
