midi (musical instruments digital interface)


what program can play midi files, tried xmms to no avail, and also does midi have to be enabled in the kernel configuration. thanx in advanced.

I havn't taken the MIDI leap from MS to Linux yet, but check out the applications playmidi and timidity.
I believe MIDI hardware support is provided by the audio card drivers. You may need to check your kernel configuration. If your sound card is fairly standard and works under Linux, the MIDI interface should work.
