messed with permissions... oops

Hi all,
I think I did some bad changes with permissions and now I get strange errors...
when I do man, for istance, I get
excecv: permission denied
when I use mail, I get
group mail [...] was not found [...]
where did I do wrong?

Well, what exactly did you do to change all permissions? Don't tell me you did the stupid thing of:

chmod -R 777 /

Did you? We need more details please, we can't guess what's wrong.

Thanks for the answer, but I discovered myself.
It mainly was some changes in the /etc/ and permission mistakes with the dotted files in the home directories
