merging /dev/hda2 and /dev/hda3

HI i have a redhat linux version 7.1 . Now in this there are some partitions for var usr , home etc
currently /home is on /dev/hda2 of 25 GB and /usr is one /dev/hda3 of 25 GB.
the home directory is almost full where as the usr is having more than 20 GB free space. how do i make efficient use of this space??
is it possible to merge them ??
what is the solution??

What is your total HD capacity (and how many drives)?

You cannot just merge partitions with data on them. In general, you have to delete, shrink, etc. and then create new. This will be easier if you have extra room on your drives.

from your post, it seems that all of the partitions on are the same physical drive, right?

there are tools for windows, ie partition magic and others, that are capable of doing this (keeping the data intact and undamaged), but is not free. look for *nix equivalents on sourceforge or other linux software sites.
