You've installed RedHat Linux 8.0 :) Stable release of linux is now at 2.4.20 Quote:
And btw, welcome to linuxquestions :) |
redhat 8 puts the openoffice in the main menu - and on the "task bar". also were you provided the option of putting an icon on the desktop or main menu when you installed staroffice? Sun has put a hell of a lot of time and money into staroffice so I find it hard to believe that they would allow you to install it on one of the most used distro's of linux and then make it difficult for you to find.

No they did not mention about putting and icon on the menu.
For me to access the file i need to go into Terminal and then login as root I installed the staroffice under usr/staroffice/. To open the staroffice i need to enter this command : . /soffice . If i enter :soffice the system will prompt error.Only if i enter ./soffice then only the application will load, I still cannot get the staroffice icon to be display on the menu sorry for my english |

staroffice? oh. well - openoffice should be available if you installed via disk and it puts links in the proper places.
