Question

I'd like to run a program and allow it to use all 8GB of memory for one process, as now this is not possible, where do I change this?
Is it suported by the kernel?
I use a RH6.1 Athlon-PC.

Thanx
/Magnus

The 2.2.x series of kernels only supports upto 2GB of memory. You will need to upgrade to the 2.4.x series if you would like to use more than that. The 2.4.x series tops out at 64GB.

2.4.0 use all the memory but I can't get 2.4.0 to use more than 2GB for one thread/process, is this the limit for one process?
Is there a way of increasing the per process limit (to 8GB) and if there is, then how?

(I would draw benefit from this increase of "per process memory" by keeping a larger matrix in memory while applying a BLAS/LAPACK routine giving me better accuracy.
