Lightbulb memory


Hi there!

When I start Linux 'free' shows that only 40Mb of RAM are used, but when I start KDE 'free' shows that 121MB are used!!!
How can I free my memory???

Uhh, you don't.

You don't need to "free" your memory in Linux. Linux will take care of your memory just fine for you. It's like leaving your car with a Valet at Playboy Mansion, you know it will be just fine, and come back in perfect condition.

Oh, and there was/is a thread speaking on this subject in the Newbie section very recently. Tricky and Acid had some comments as well. You should see if you can find that topic.
