MeeGo

Anyone tried out MeeGo 1.0 on their netbooks? Opinions?

I just gave it a quick go running from a flash drive on my Acer Aspire One. I didn't install it. Even so for the most part is very fast booting up and running. It works well with the netbook.

Like you, I tried it on a flash drive. It seemed to run well enough, but I didn't test SD card and usb flash drive access.

For me personally, neither the MeeGo interface nor the Ubuntu Netbook Edition interface beats a "normal" desktop interface.

I do like the netbook interfaces of MeeGo and Ubuntu, though with mixed feelings. I don't know that the interface alone makes or breaks either for me. My preferred "desktop" is Fluxbox.

I may dual boot MeeGo to further test it, as I have the 160g harddrive so I have the room. I don't know if it would be good as one's sole OS. Depending on how one uses their netbook it could be perfect for some people, especially if their focus is surfing the net and social sites.

MeeGo seems to pretty good for a V1.0. I can see it potentially being really good for its target audience in another year or two.
