I said I'd probably also turn them off since I didn't know what they were... Sorry for the bad suggestion I should have looked a bit into each option a bit more first Shame on me . As for network, you don't need a service at boot time to setup your network for you, that's what dhcpcd is for! But if the service is working fine, and isn't slowing you down much, go for it.



Have fun, and try each service one by one like I suggested above, might prove to be a bit more fruitful and easier to recover from than disabling many at once.

some services that are being suggested to shut down but I wouldnt shut down is:
network
devfsd
sound
DM


dhcpcd comes in handy but..therefore u still need ''network' in mandrake though.
the network script is responsible to bringing your interfaces up..(e.g. eth0 and/or eth1)

i've solved.

but the boot time still remains slow with all that fileds to be turned on and status checked
