.mdi file opening


hi

i hav a file with .mdi as its extension n am not able find a suitable application to open it in my ubuntu system.

can anyone help me with this issue??

The .mdi extension means Microsoft Office Document Imaging File which unsurprisingly is another of them proprietary document formats. This site seems to be able to convert it to PDF which you can then print.

Then you're SOL. To convert it find a machine running The Other OS (or try installing MSO via WINE or install The Other OS as a virtualization guest). BTW if you find all of this tedious and irritating then know this isn't a problem with Linux or F/OSS but with this vendors deliberate choice to completely disregard Open Standards.
