Maximum DVD iso size

I intend to use mkisofs + growisofs to burn a DVD+R. My question is: just how big can the iso file be? I know that the stated capacity of DVD+R is 4700.000.000 bytes, but I wonder if I am allowed to use it all (without overburning, of course).

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd go with whatever the packaging says.
