Matrox Video Card Problem
 

I have installed Mandrake 8.1 on an older machine. I went through a major headache and have finally determined that my problems all lie in my video card.

It is a Matrox Millennium 220 based on the IS-Storm R2 chipset. Here's the problem:

I cannot get it to go beyond 640x480x8. Anything beyond that in colors or resolution make the screen go blank once XWindows starts up.

The question is, what can I do to go beyond this setting? I have tried two monitors, no difference. It runs beautifully in 640x480x8 but I at least need more colors.

It's probably in my XF86Config-4 file, isn't it? What should the lines look like for video card there?
