math queston


my question is in linux (red hat) when i do a sfdisk -g on my hard drive i get :4865 cyclinders 255heads, 63 sectors. how the heads are so high not 16 like in does. i have to do the math to get start and stop sectors and trying to find out how many cyclinders will a partion hold. how do you do the math?

Is heads x sectors x 512 bytes = equal to size of the cylinder
