massive numbers of email accounts and scripts


How do large websites (ie. yahoo) handle soo many email address? And, how can they automatically add users, is it a script?

yes you can create scripts to do things lik this. The script will be dependant on your system.

But how could I pass a variable from a webpage to a script? I don't want to use CGI or PHP due to security (allowing access to the bind config).

If you don't use some type of script on the webserver then there isn't a way to do it. The whole idea of what you want to do involves some sort of scipting or programming.

You've got to use something. PHP and Perl are perfectly acceptable for building a web interace for a web-based application. Just be sure to audit your code. Go take a peek at Hushmail. Secure email is their focus, and they are using PHP and Java for their application.

Also are you referring to bind as in DNS?
