Mandriva-Fedora Browser Question.

When I download a PDF with Mandriva it loads it in the Browser Window and then I have to (save page as) where as with Fedora it does not load it in the Browser Window but immediately opens a dialogue box as to where to save it.

What makes the process of saving a PDF file in these two Distros different?

I assume you are referring to the default browser (konqueror) in Mandriva ?
Most browsers can be given instructions (code) in the configuration to say what to do with different "mime-types".
Fedora's default instructions differ from Mandriva'a.
If you look at the "system settings menu" Common Appearance--> File Associations.... in the list of file types - under "text" you should find "pdf" There is a tab for "Embedded"... Here is where you can specify what konqueror should do - "offer to save", view, etc.
