Mandrake 8.0 vs. Soundblaster Live Soundcard

Hello,
I am a brand-new(bie) Linux user. I recently installed Mandrake 8.0 in a dual-boot with Win2k.
Everything is running smoothly for the most part (I must say I adore Mandrake and Linux so far) However, I am becoming frustrated with a soundcard problem.
My soundcard (Soundblaster Live) functions fine during the initial boot, but after this it ceases to function at all. I have reinstalled Mandrake 3 times, and each time it will work on the first boot, but not afterward. It shows as OK in HardDrake, and I cannot figure out how to get it working again. How would someone with less than 1/4oz. working knowledge of Linux/Unix go about fixing this?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

sounds to me like its not loading the driver on boot up. I dont remember the exact name of the SBLive driver..but it should be something like emu10k, or something like that. just use modprobe emu10k, should get it workin..i think
