Making the Trash icon disappear? (forever?)
I'm using KDE 3.2, and I don't want the trash icon to show up when I start KDE anymore. I don't use it and it really bugging me. I tried to delete it with my user permissions and with root permissions, but it show up again every time I start KDE.
any ideas??? TIA. |
you just have to change the $PATH variable.
for my user I keep the trash-bin the my ~home directory instead of it being on the desktop. bring up the KDE control center, find the menu tree for your $PATH entries, one of them will be for the trash bin.........I believe you can just delete the whole line if you want.......don't quote me on that tho.......... |
... and how to get it back?
I by mistake deleted my trash-bin from my desktop. How can I get it back?

Hey thanks! I wanted to delete the trash icon too!
|
to get it back you must make a directory in /home/youruser/.kde or something called Trash, and then make an Icon.
|
I have a folder called .Thrash in my /home/user folder
Making an icon, however, does not work. After generation, it tries to 'run' it instead of opening. I also tried to find it on my root desktop, but there is no reference at all to the trash icon. MeL |
