making playable dvd
greetings all
I am trying to get a movie dvd to play as soon as it gets plugged into the player but am having a time doing it. I have a movie with several titles and chapters and all I want is the movie and no extras. I have copied what I want. My problem is with dvdauthor. ( i am working from the command line) From an article in Linux Gazette # 83, they say : "In order for our disc to be played in a stand alone DVD player, the directory structure HAS to be perfect, so please make sure you type the next several commands exactly as shown, in the order shown: mkdir dvd mkdir dvd/VIDEO_TS Next we need an Table of Content IFO file, type: tocgen > dvd/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO " Where is tocgen? With my dvdauthor it has --toc or -T option. Then it talks about ifogen but I don't see that either. There should be an easy way to take the files I have and burn them to a disk without menus and all the other bloat and have it play like a normal dvd. Can someone point me to an article that may shed some light? Thanks neil |
Easiest way is to use DVDShrink. It is a windows application which works with wine. You can do everything from ripping to deleting (shrinking) menus for the dvd. Download it from http://www.dvdshrink.org/
and search threads here on how to install it. |
Ksgil, tnx for the info. That isn't really what I had in mind but you may be right that it would be the easiest way. I have to believe that there is a way to do it with linux that isn't much harder. I am sure the video editors have a way.... ie: I use a program in linux called 'dvd-slideshow' and it uses scripts to take .jpgs and make them into a dvd slideshow complete with a simple menu. I'd like to find something like that but for movies not stills....where I could take the stuff that I copied and make just a movie dvd, not a movie dvd with a bunch of previews, moving menus, menus with music etc....
