making KDE default DM
 
in redhat 9 using its default login manager
how can i make kdm my default login manager when i start redhat9?

theres a file calle /etc/inittab.conf go to it and change the configuration number to 4 or 5 instead of 3.its self explanatory ...try it and post the result

there's a file in /etc/sysconfig/ called desktop.

(you gotta be root to do this)
edit that and add a line that says
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"


then save it and reboot.
it should come up with KDM instead of GDM.

Or better yet, don't reboot, but become root and type:

/sbin/init 3

When you are returned to the console, login as root if necessary and type:

/sbin/init 5

No rebooting required :)
