making a psudo-root user
 

I have a problem with the sound card on my PC where it fails randomly and locks up all mutimedia related applications. It can easily be fixed by going into YaST and removing and re-installing the sound card-a 2 minute process. I have to go into root to do this, but I would really prefer to limit my root time. Is there a way to access just the sound card module through my standard user (give it root access for that one action).

Look at the sudo command. It will give normal users access to privelaged commands.
