Partition Magic ?

Are you wanting to increase the size with data on it or not ?

and i only have ssh access to the box i wanna do it on and the box runs linux not windows

well then, you could use fdisk or maybe cfdisk but you might lose data if you have data on the partition you want to increase in size, but you didn't mention if you did or not. and parition magic i believe works with any OS.

i do have data on it!!!
and partition magic is ONLY for windows

I'm so sorry master, I never used partition magic before, it only helps in creating a linux and windows dual boot after I looked it up.
Your posts come off as you giving attitude which makes me not want to help in anyway. I try to give advice with hardly any details given. Excuse me for trying to help.

Giving, "How to make a partition bigger?" "How?" Doesn't help me anymore than it helps you. Sorry I'm not psychic.

Maybe you can use resize2fs and fdisk. Check out the man pages for resize2fs and fdisk. resize2fs will resize your filesystem then you use fdisk to make the partition bigger or smaller. This will only work on ext2.
