making a image of a computer and installing onto another

Hello,
I want to install linux (debian) on a computer and I was told that you could make an image of a machine and install it on to another.
I was wondering if anybody could help me in doing this or point me to a good HOW TO documente. I am somewhat new to Linux but I don't want to wait for the guy that knows how to do it. I think it would be a great learning experience.
Plus I would get some work done.

Thanks

Are these identical machines. If not it may be easier to perform a regular installation so the the correct devices get loaded, etc. Also make sure to give the second computer a unique host name. If it doesn't use DHCP, the IP address needs to be unique also.
