Makin Gift work

Ok guys first of all hello to everyone.Am the newest guy u 'll ever find in this forum.Am an ex xp user and now i've decided to give a try to the mighty linux(suse 9.0 more specifically).Am still not very familiar with the whole idea of linux and i would like someone to help me out installin gift to begin with.Thx in advance

well, what do you need? are you installing gift from source or from rpm if its from source then untar the file tar -zxvf file if it ends in .tgz or tar.gz or tar -xvjpf file if it ends in .bz2 then enter the directory and read the readme file which should give directions on installing, after youve done that please post more specific questions if you need more help

The generally accepted practice is to google for info, try to do what you're trying to do, google on your problems, and then bring unresolved problems here. It is quite impossible to give totally general advice.

The file ends in tar.gz.Now what exactly should i do to install it...Sry to be so annoyin but as i said am very new at this and really dont know how to handle this thing.Thx in advance for any help

OK i checked the link u posted and folowed the instruction.what i basically did is downloaded gift in my /home/myname i type in console:cd gift-0.11.5 and then type ./configure
After makin some tests it prints out this:no acceptable C compiler found in $path.Can some1 help me out here plz?
