make world


What does this command do??

#make world

runs the make following the procedure defined by the "world" section in the Makefile.... you've provided no other useful information though so can't really say much else....

If you're refering to FreeBSD, it's the procedure for rebuilding your entire system from source (if you type the command in /usr/src).

You could cvsup down to an earlier version of the source and then make world again.

Well if u have FreeBSD 4.7, why would you want to downgrade?? If anything, you'd want to upgrade to 4.8.

See the handbook for detailed instructions on how to do this stuff.
