mailx gives this error

/usr/lib/sendmail: No such file or directory
"/home/kbs/dead.letter" 9/261
. . . message not sent.
Any ideas or links to get mailx to work?

Thanks in advance! 02-04-2013 07:29 AM

check is your sendmail binary exist.

ls -l /usr/lib/sendmail.

if yes check the binary, may be corrupt or overwritten, also you might want to check the sym links related to the sendmail.

if no, check for the mta selector, check if sendmail package is installed.

Hope this help!

Thanks for the reply!
ls returns nothing. It's interesting how bash recognizes 'mailx' and 'nail but they don't work. 02-04-2013 07:55 AM

make sure you have sendmail installed.

#rpm -qa | grep sendmail

if not you will have to install it.
