I have a SuSE 9.0 machine that is running Postfix and I have installed Mutt as an email client. When I run mutt it works just fine except it gives me an error message:

"/var/mail/myusername: No such file or directory (errno = 2)"

So, I can send mail just fine, but I can't receive mail because there's no mailbox. (I guess) I've looked in /var/mail (which is actually a link to /var/spool/mail) and find only a mailbox for root. I've searched the forums here and googled forever and what I have found suggests that when you add system users (via useradd), you should automatically have a mailbox. But none of the users I've added have mailboxes. Only root has one. What am I missing here? How do I create mailboxes for users? TIA

I solved it. For anyone who wants to know I su-ed to root and used Mutt to send an email locally to the user I wanted to create a mailbox for. So, by sending an email from root@mymachine to myusername@mymachine it automatically created the mailbox /var/spool/mail/myusename.

Now I just need to figure out why I can't receive mail from other hosts...
