Lynx & libcaca
Can someone fork a lynx that fully incoorporates libcaca so I can view images and video through libcaca right in my terminal? I could finally get rid of the other browser. I'd do it myself but it looks way out of my league.

What, view image and video IN the terminal? Because unless you have some special terminal for video, this video thing (like html5/flash in youtube) just won't work. Also you could make it view image in lynx, but I much rather use links2 instead, but for video IN the terminal seems rather impossible (could be possible with mplayer using ascii mode, but after all, better to just download the video)

that would be libcaca, i guess.
but basically lightfsm is totally right:
you can't emulate 3rd millenium internet in a terminal window to that extent.
some terminal browsers attempt to reconstruct the colors, some have graphics support via some framebuffer magic, but that's about it.
think about it, it's not just text and images, there's css, there's graphical layout (small images basically), flash...

Wouldnt it be at least theoretically possible?
For images it would have to ignore small images of course, maybe have a script check for size with custom variables. CSS emulations is not what I'd want at all (one of the reasons I like lynx).
I can see how converting flash/html5 video-output into libcaca could be quite an undertaking/impossible. But at least streaming mpg/avi's in the browser in "ascii mode" would be really really nice.
I like links2, but I cant get graphics to work without firing up an x server, thats probably just me though. I'd really prefer ascii images.

yes. putting aside modern web design, all the required parts are there already, and maybe somebody already started putting it all together somewhere... your task to find out.

it is possible without an x server - it's called framebuffer graphics or something. you can even watch videos without X. requires some extra modules to be loaded early, search, you shall find.
