Install the multipath tools package which is named differently depending on version

See the documentation site e.g. for 6: http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Re...ath/index.html

@aparna8877: please read the DM Multipath documentation you were provided in post #2.

Multipathing is not brain-dead simple, and several configuration decisions will depend heavily on your environment. Read the docs, understand the concepts, and deploy / document for your set of circumstances.

Not sure what you mean by "scan the LUNs in [multipathing]". Here's a few tips.

Display metadata about visible LUNs (and other SCSI drives)
Code:
# less /proc/scsi/scsi
Display WWNs for visible LUNs
Code:
# systool -c fc_transport -v
Display DM-Multipath view of LUNs
Code:
# multipath -ll
Rescan SCSI bus
Code:
# echo '- - -' > /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan
(Note: 'host0' refers to the first physical HBA in the system. You need to either scan the correct hostn/HBA, or scan all HBAs to cast a wide net.)

-------

If none of those is what you're looking for, then please clarify in plain, descriptive language.

Thanks for replying to my question.

It really helps me a lot.
Actually recently i faced this question in one of the interview.

The Interviewer asked me:

In Linux MULTIPATHING,how do you scan the LUNs?

I was not able to answer this question.

is it the coomand we use:

multipath -l or -ll

or

echo - - - >/sys/class

which one is correct one to scan the LUNs after they are attached to the storage ?
