low overhead console + colors

Hi... do u know any easily customized console that can support some colors and bg pictures?? I want the application to have small requirements,,,

Any good suggestion?

rxvt supports highlights for directories and executibles along with transparancy so you can see your background through your terminal.

thx...for your answer but i need a solution that doesnot need Xserver installed.. I need some nice graphics designed at the console... and nothing more
