looking for some help with linux , im using mandrake 9.1 that came with a book


hit me up on aim if you can

just have alot of small questions trying to get figured out withthis

ok ill start off with this , have a link to firefox download that is rpm download

i might have a tar.gz or whatever installed of it how can i check to see if firefox is on my computer as a tar

Mandrake 9.1 is ancient, chances are that you won't find an rpm that
works for you. Same with the tar-balls btw.

To find a firefox tarball on your HDD try:

find / -name "firefox*tar*"

k ,thx

anotehr question its stupid but i cant figure it out , how do you change the clock pm, to am or vice versa i have the clock time set right but not the am,pm

Probably right-click on the clock and choose adjust time and date.

Haven't used 9.1 in years but it worked in 10, 10.1 and 2006...

where can i get an upgrade of mandrake 9.1 , like upgrade to whts the newest with mandriva, if you got a link to a download or something let me know thx.

No offense, but you aren't going to get very far without a little research yourself.

http://www.mandriva.com/en/download 2 secs on google

you COULD probably use urpmi (a package manager) to upgrade, but the difference in versions is too great, i'd reccomend just going with the Mandriva 2006 (i realise you've probably just finished an install)

ya will that mandriva 2006 just upgrade or am i goin to have to do some technical stuff withmounting

imlookin at some of these on the link u sent me are ones trial , and others , im confused which one is a full desktop ver.
