Longest Uptime for Linux, something you deal with. Not heard of or read about.
 

What is the longest uptime you have ever had or better yet are currently having? I don't care if you run a ISP or what. Please do tell some system info though. Like maybe brand or custom built, speed and what distro Mandrake, Gentoo, Redhat etc.

For those of you who have been running for a long time and don't know how to find out, try this in a term:

uptime

You can cut and paste if you want.

Mine is 4 weeks on a old AMD 400MHz using Mandrake 9.1 with a 30GB hard drive. Had to cut off because of storm and no UPS. :cry:

I have went a few weeks on this rig as well.

Well for Linux at home I had a box up for 2 months. I had to shut it down to bring it to a LAN party.

The longest running box I've ever had believe it or not was a Win 2k machine. It ran for about 3 months straight without a reboot...I was really impressed by it (although it did run pretty slow a few times).

Right now my router has been up for about a week straight. Since I never need to restart the thing it should be up quite long before I have to ever reboot it (we'll see..).

My home server was up 116 days before a big power outage took it down. I need to get myself a UPS! :) The average uptime for it is about 60 days since I add and remove hardware from it frequently.

My laptop doesn't get a whole lot of uptime though. :)

My Thinkpad T40 has been up for ~20 days before. I've only had it for about two months though, so we'll see how long I can go on it. The most impressive part I think is it never has a problem with several suspend/resumes per day, connecting/disconnecting a parallel printer, usb mouse, hotswap bay for battery/combo drive, etc. when moving from home to mobile. Runs Mandrake 9.1 for the moment.

I have a system as a file server that's been up since December 27, 2002.
Will be pulled down Dec 23, 2003 for yearly upgrades.

Now my question is how many days? That is a while there. Is it running OK? Any bad stuff going on? Bet that CPU wasn't cheap. Whew.

That's like 300 days or so. Official uptime please.

I ran a box for around 150 days before a power cut broke it. I'm not sure how long exactly it was up because I didn't check for a while before the power cut happened.
Today 13th October, Dec 27th, 2002 was 290 days ago. Wow!

At a site of a customer of mine, we had a UNIX box (AIX) that nearly made it to 1000 days uptime. Foiled by a power outage in the computer room. For Linux I've only managed a month or so, but then I play with the Linux boxes a lot more.

I had it up for almost 9 months but I had to shut it down so I could add an extra HDD... :cry: :cry: :cry:

The best i have done is 4 months, Not because linux failed. But because i have 3 children....nuff said:)

Personel note: if linux can withstand the banging's of three children from 3 yo to 12 yo. It can withstand anything;)

Pentium MMX 200mhz, 64 MB RAM, 17 GB Western Digital, S3 Virge Videocard, running as a small webserver, NFS file server, Samba, ssh, mysql, FTP.....

Harddrive is about to kick the bucket and it lasted for 204 days until I had a 2 second power outage during a storm...

I'm still currently running my sites and such off of it now until I move and get all the rest of my machines up and running, with the hard drive still about to die... ;)

Man, I use my box for workstation, not server ;) After the tenth hour one of my cooling fans begins to roam strangely... And I sleep in one room with my PC.. it's too loud :)

well, i have a few 2.4g poweredge servers that i have never had to shut down. Installed and configured in one day and havent looked back since. One is serving web, another email and another samba. I think they have been up for like 70 days, but it is my day off so ill have to get back to you on that one.

For home, I have my web server up for about 19 days now after a hardware change, my file server was canibalized, so it has been up for 19 days, they were up for about 90 before i itook them down, and my laptop usualy goes about eight hours at a time, but on the weekends it can go for two days.

Oh yeah, and my windows box, usually about fifteent minutes before a BSOD. but i have seen it go as long as twenty.
