Logs

Hi,

I set up Postfix mail server, and it very kindly emails me all sorts of logs, how nice! I also set up a file server that sits right next to it. If I can, I'd like to get the fileserver to use the email server to send me it's logs too, but I don't know how.

Can anybody tell me or point me in the direction of a HOWTO?? I'd really appreciate any help on this.

Have a look at LogRotate - set it up with a post-rotate option to mail the log to you.

You might also be interested in "LogWatch" - it will e-mail you a overview report of your whole system. I run it on all my servers daily as a basic monitoring practice.
