logrotate mishandles files with YYYY-MM-DD extension

Distro: SuSE 9.1

We've installed the sysreport module that logs various sar runs to the directory /var/log/sa.
The files are in the format: sar.2004_08_19 and sa.2004_08_19. Right now, logrotate is
creating a sar.2004_08_19.1 for each of these files instead of deleting the older ones. My desired state is to delete all files older than 14 days. How can I get logrotate to process the date ending files properly?

TIA
