Question Logout

Hi,

Is there a global script that executes when someone logs out?

Because I've written myself a simple(ish) chat program so the Linux users can talk to each other in real time, it has a user list, if someone types in the quit command then it will remove them from the user list, but if they just close telnet or log out, their name stays on the list.

So, I need to issue the command to remove them from the list if they disconnect or log out...

Any ideas how I could do this? (I know how to remove their name, I just need to know where to type it)

don't know of a global script, but users using Bash can use ~/.bash_logout to clean things up, maybe other shells support like ~/.logout, dunno that tho.

Hmmmmmm...

Hi,

I edited ~/.bash_logout but it only seems to execute when someone types: exit from a shell, but I need it to execute if someone closes telnet...

Any ideas?
