logitech iFeel mouse/usb issues

The system I'm working with here is debian woody.

I've been trying to get this here Logitech iFeel USB mouse to work, but to no avail. i enabled full HID in the kernel and enabled the module, i also enabled usb-ohci enabled...

GPM is not installed.

my XF86Config-4 has this entry:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Resolution" "300"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Buttons" "3"
EndSection

When I plug in the mouse, the optical light comes on and seems to show activity, this laptop has a function key combination to enable an external mouse (at least i think that's what it is) but when i enable that, the mouse still doesn't work, and the pointer stick doesn't show movement either untill i disable it. Does this feature somehow need to be enabled somehow too?

here's what dmesg reports:
usb-ohci.c: USB suspend: usb-00:02.0
usb-ohci.c: odd PCI resume for usb-00:02.0
wvlan_cs: MAC address on eth1 is 00 30 f1 0e 4b 5c

usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb-ohci.c: unlink URB timeout
usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=12 (error=-110)

Over the course of this log, you can see that I've plugged and unplugged the mouse several times.

Help is appreciated...

I think you need to change device option in XF86Config, find out what the mouse is assigned to in /dev and stick that in as device option.
Are you using devfs?

hmm... OK i guess i overlooked the fact that /dev/psaux is what the pointing stick is connected to.

/dev/mouse is pointed to gpmdate... but GPM is not installed.

so erm, how do i found out what the mouse is on?

A lucky guess I always try /dev/input/mice for my Logitech iFeel, and it runs fine as long as I have compiled all the right things into my kernel:
full hid /dev/hiddev(or something along those lines) and I think I go with uhci.

Cool

Hmm... I enabled /dev/hiddev, and some other mouse driver listed below it, enabled the modules in the kernel... but still no luck. tried /dev/input mice too.

here's the dmesg:

usb.c: registered new driver usb_mouse
usbmouse.c: v1.6:USB HID Boot Protocol mouse driver
hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 2
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb-ohci.c: unlink URB timeout
usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-110)
hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 3
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb-ohci.c: unlink URB timeout
usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=3 (error=-110)

nothing much new

It's /dev/input/mice but I am just going to assume that was a typo up there.

What kernel are you running there?

Also, you might wanna enable "long timeouts" or something along those lines in the kernel. This might also be your problem.

Cool

Same problem with a Trust Micro Mouse

I have a Gentoo Linux with a 2.4.19 kernel and I've the same problem :
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout

Nothing happen with :
cat /dev/input/mice
and these modules are loaded :
hid
mousedev
input
