Login to KDE from another computer both running Gentoo

I'm trying to start kde from another computer on my network by exporting $DISPLAY, I'm not sure if I'm on the right track. I tried to use ltsp but it I don't have a floppy drive and my networkcard does not support PXE boot. Basicly I just want an Xterminal, so my sister and I can use the computer at the same time, and our own personal accounts. I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

I'm running Gentoo on both systems.

In the past I have set up a VNC server on one machine and then used a VNC veiwer on the other machine (which can even be a winblow$ machine).

Others prefer x over ssh...

http://www.cag.lcs.mit.edu/~wentzlaf/faq/ssh_X.html

I've never had much luck, but like I said, I'm usually using VNC for Windows clients (which don't have native x servers)...

Several things can be done.
1. Install vncserver on the remote machine and use vncviewer to login. You can create multiple vncserver sessions each on their own display 1-* and for each user. You can use one user on display 1 and another on display 2. Each can run thier own gui like one can run KDE and the other Gnome.
Info here on setting up vncserver on fc system. http://fedoranews.org/tchung/vnc/index.shtml

2. To do it over ssh connection. One do it like a vncserver connection over ssh.
Setup ssh http://www.suso.org/docs/shell/ssh.sdf
vnc over ssh http://www.vanemery.com/Linux/VNC/vnc-over-ssh.html

3. Another option is to run an X app on the local machine. Example to run xmms from the remote machine and have it display on the local machine just like it was installed on it.
Just make a regular ssh connection but with the -Y option.
ssh -Y username@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Then while in that session run the command xmms.
